- In an odd road rage incident this morning near the entrance of the Holland Tunnel, an angry motorist jumped out of his car brandishing a small knife at the person he felt cut him off; the second driver then produced a large machete. Suddenly feeling inadequately armed, the man with the knife called 911.
- Today Show hostess Meredith Viera not only was refused entry to her flight to China because her visa was expired, but she returned home to find a dead chipmunk in her dining room.
- Cops are looking for information on a man shown in a security video holding a gun. He's being sought in the Memorial Day shooting of several teens in Harlem.

and regarding the road rage incident:
if someone is threatening me with a knife, and i have a machete at arm's reach, i'm reaching. i think he actually reduced the risk of any harm being done, and i'm not sure what he did wrong.
i'm having a tough time reconciling, because i generally think we need far fewer weapons on the street, but in this case i think the machete served a sound purpose.
i'm sure they'll nail him on a weapons charge though, just for defending himself against some guy with a problem.
