Encore: NY Times Buildings Being Climbed AGAIN

Currently, there's another climber scaling the side of the New York Times Building on Eighth Avenue at 41st Street, and as one commenter said earlier, "Wait a minute, they put up a building that looks like a giant ladder, and somebody climbed it? Shocker." He/She is somewhere between the 20th and 30th floors.

Earlier today, Alain Robert scaled the building (here's a photo gallery) to promote environmental awareness.

Update 6:40 p.m.: The climber has been arrested and is in custody, after successfully scaling the building. Since the earlier climber will "likely face several criminal charges, including, at the least, reckless endangerment," we imagine this person will face the same.

Naturally, the CityRoom has the inside scoop, finding out that climber is Ray Clark, a 32-year-old "information technology worker and 'urban climber'" from Brooklyn: "He appeared to be going at a slower rate than Mr. Robert did, and to be less certain of his footing. Like Mr. Robert, the man was wearing no harness and no rope. "

The NY Times' official statements: "The two climbers are jeopardizing their safety and the safety of others. We are deeply concerned about this situation.”

if this keeps up, the building might have to remove some of those rods to keep this from being a regular occurrence.

Ironic-- the first climber was supposedly doing so to get the word out about global warming (global warming-- what's that?) and those rods were incorporated into the design as an environmentally friendly way to help keep the building cool. Maybe they should have wrapped the building in barbed wire instead.

We should all climb up to the boardroom level, unzip, and take a good piss.

Can he be charged with "lame copycat stunt"?

Is there a separate award in the Guinness book of records for the fastest climb of the new New York Times building?

He had a malaria no more shirt / Save the children tshirt on!

Bravo

check my stream for pictures, i have a video of him coming out of the back door smiling like no other

both idiots should pay the city for wasting everyones time and than be publicly beaten.

Give them a break. It only cost us city tax payers like a million dollars for them to do what they did. Next time grease the last two floors.

I thought real New Yorkers should tolerate adventurous personas better than that...
Thumbs up to both climbers!

i thought he was doing it to protest the no bicycle parking inside or outside at this brand new state of the art so called green building.

It's great to see how some 'New Yorkers' complain in one post about NYC being tamed and sanitized then turn around and whine about someone doing something adventurous and risky.

I think it was a nice break in the day.

June 5th: Building Climbing Day.

It only cost us city tax payers like a million dollars for them to do what they did. -Snoopy

It cost the city a million dollars to have some cops stand around on the sidewalk? Or to take the elevator to the top floor to arrest the guy(s)?

You lost me there buzz. Did it, or did it not cost the mill?

There were so many helicopters, squad cars, and fire trucks watching this guy.

Why does any asshole waste his time doing this crap. message to dope: GET A LIFE! WTF? climbing the Times tower is such great a feat? go jump off the verazano and F your self. Dumd stunts like this went out woth doing The Charleston on flag poles!

allow me to retype: Dumb stunys like this went out with doing the Charleston on flag poles!

If I were still young, I would have done it naked.

NY Times should charge people $100 and have each climber sign a waiver. This is a great money making idea.

Sales tax should be included in the $100 so the city can be happy.

wearing no harness and no rope.

It's typically called Bouldering.
