- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: A fatal MVA at the Whitestone Expressway and 126th St in Queens, an armed robbery/water rescue at Shore Blvd & Mackenzie Str in Brooklyn, and a pedestrian struck at 56 St & Fifth Ave in Manhattan.

- A construction worker was killed after falling from a scaffolding on St. Marks Ave. in Brooklyn Monday afternoon. Apparently, he wasn't wearing a safety harness.
- The MTA nixed a plan by fellow employees to help the widow of a former track worker who succumbed to cancer. Other track workers were donating unused vacation time and holiday pay to the wife of Alexander Titok, but after his death NYC Transit refused to turn that donated time into cash.
- 1,200 OTB employees got their walking papers from the State this week. Another 300 will be fired when the 62 betting parlors in NYC close.
