As a MoMA member, one would think I like going there the most. It's certainly nice, but I especially like going to PS 1. It's even nicer in the summer when they have that outdoor space all dressed up.
If you want to see some cool interactive art, check out the shows at Eyebeam on 21st Street. Downtown, Deitch stages amazing shows at their galleries on Wooster and Grand Street. And in Brooklyn, Powerhouse Arena in Dumbo has the best photo shows in the borough.
This is not just ass-kissing: Walter Reade is a great place to head to on the Upper West. Film Forum rules for their repertory pictures downtown. Otherwise, I'll cop to actually dreaming about visiting the Met on 82nd some nights. Not doing anything untoward in the Museum, just dreams about walking through the Met. It's great because it's a dream that can be relived at one's own convenience whenever one walks over to 5th Ave.

New York Philharmonic Open Rehearsals
I like the new New Museum.
My favorite place is the Walter Reade Theater at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Great movies and introductions, plus comfortable seats!
The Met is hands down the best place for art & culture in the city.
