50 Cent's Home Gutted in Early Morning Blaze

50homes.jpgEarlier this year it was reported that 50 Cent wanted his ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, and their son out of his Dix Hills, Long Island home (a wish he had enforced by a judge). While 50 didn't live there, the deed is in his name, and he pays Tompkins $6,700 a month, including cash for her to find a new home for their son and her boyfriend (who has been living under the rapper's roof).

Now the The NY Post is reporting that the $1.5M home burned to the ground early this morning; Tompkins was still living there with her son, and reportedly six people were taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries. Newsday reports that "Tompkins was standing outside the home barefoot as it burned, wearing a bathrobe. Two young boys, one of them Marquise, two teenage girls and an older woman" were next to her.

Arson squad investigators were on the scene, and one fire official noted "there is a strong -- a strong, strong -- possibility that it is suspicious."

Presumably Tompkins was still living there as she filed a lawsuit last month against the rapper for breach of contract, having claimed he said the house was hers.

UPDATE: TMZ got their hands on a video of a fight between 50 and his ex that took place on the street yesterday before the fire, and after a deposition.

it blows my mind that so many of these superstars with money have such emotionless/uncreative homes... I guess money doesn't buy taste, just location.

#1 - Compared to a youth spent in a prject or ghetto that place is a frickin' palace.

That house looks no different then those tasteless McMansions popping up all over upstate NY. I agree w/YoPlay. $$$ can't buy taste. ;)

And then finally, when there's nothing left, when you can't borrow another buck from the bank or buy another case of booze, you bust the joint out. You light a match.

Not to mention, what kind of FD do they have in Dix Hills where a house that big can burn "to the ground?" Give me a break. You'd see the smoke from that miles away.

^^ Probably a volunteer department who were sleeping at the time the fire broke out. It's appears not to be masonry construction, just a bunch of sticks and chipboard.

It ain't worth 50cent now.

All fire departments on Long Island are volunteer outfits.

Trivia: the volunteer fire departments in Nassau and Suffolk counties, which serve a population of about 2.8 million, have more fire engines than the FDNY and the Los Angeles Fire Department combined.

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire

Nice reference TimSPC. It didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.

You guys are snobs. It's nothing to do with taste. He had a chance to dump that old bag and the kids. Throw her in the first place you can find, why waste your time worrying about "taste"? Your life just turned into a giant hot tub of money, girls, cars and coke. Really really good coke and really really hot girls. You're gonna put that on hold while you shop for something charming for that old ghetto bird? F that, there are blowjobs to be had! You gotta keep your priorities straight when you hit the big time.

wouldn't really really good coke and really really hot girls make one a snob? So why settle for less when it comes to the vessel in which you do both of these things? I agree with debra88, and snowman... do the shiz with some style... he's in da club of spending a buttload of money on blah.

"Pimp My House," part II, the movie.

Isn't Fiddy's Greenwich Mansion for sale? I am sure it is all Klass.
BTW, I thought it was hilarious when some guy jumped up on stage at one of his African tour dates and snatched his gold necklace. You know that he did not jump off the stage with his "posse" and chase that guy. African countries don't take kindly to dumbass, American gangsta rappers running buck wild in there countries. Yeah, the guy was caught days later, but it was pretty damn funny.

These new homes, like most of the new buildings in NYC are made of the cheapest junk money can buy.

Architects and builders take note:
A recent classic architectural addition to NYC, designed by Robert A. M. Stern, is 15 Central Park West.

TimSPC,

And she lived in Five Towns. Very meta.

Didn't Lisa "left eye" Lopes (RIP) pull a move like this in the not-so-distant past?

Dix Hills is nowhere near the Five Towns.

The five towns are Woodmere, Cedarhurst, Lawrence, Inwood and Hewlett.

Dix Hills is either part of Huntington or next to Huntington, depending on who you ask.

Now THAT'S suspicious. Just reading the headline you know it's arson.

Lisa Lopes torched her football star sweetie Andre Rison's Country Club of the South mansion in the ATL 'burbs some years back.
Andre used to come into the bank where I worked in Peachtree Corners. He'd leave Left Eye in the car so he could flirt with the tellers.
