If I recall correctly, Constitutionally we (by which I mean our state government) *have* to recognize out-of-state marriages, same-sex or otherwise. It's because of the principle that all states are co-equals and are obligated to respect each other's laws, policies, etc.

Circumventing the legislature? Please, we have the most ineffective state legislature in the country. There's nothing to circumvent. And regardless, this has nothing to do with the legislature, and everything to do with Full Faith and Credit. Our blind governor does a better job of reading than the Conservative Party.

Marriage should be taken out of the domain of the government and kept with the churches, and the Gov't should only recognize civil unions, regardless of sex. That way the Right Wing can save their precious 'institution' of marriage while gay rights activists will get the coverage they need in all things legal, and if they really want to rewrite the books on marriage itself, they'll have to take it up with the Church, not the government. Problem Solved. I'll accept that Nobel Peace Prize now thx.

Let the state recognize degenerate gay "marriage". I never will. To me, a gay "couple" are still two confused, degenerate creatures not even worthy of pity.
