Movie Magic: Re-creating Graffiti for When in Rome

2008_05_grawall.jpg

Clearly Lafayette Street between Houston and Prince Streets isn't gritty enough when a movie production crew has to carefully spray paint tags on boarded up store. And of course the boards were applied to the former Otto Tootsi Plohound location earlier in the morning.

All this hard work is for When in Rome, a comedy starring Kristen Bell (aka Veronica Mars, Sara Marshall), who told MTV, “It’s about a slightly cynical girl who has no interest in finding love and works as a curator at the Guggenheim in New York City." And of course she does find love in Rome, probably with Josh Duhamel's character, but wacky antics are ensured when there are co-stars like Will Arnett, Jon Heder and Dax Shepard.

This is the sorriest piece of writing I've come across in a long while.

Antiqued graffiti. Wisecracking Italian cabbies and loveable Jewish deli owners can't be far away.

I'm appreciating the negative comments more now that I realized Gothamist has amassed enough credibility to be held to a higher standard than most other blogs. Good work Gothamist.

that's cool I think it's great when NYer's and tourists alike get to see a movie, commercial, tv show or music video being shot in the city. i work on one of the law & order shows and when in rome moved right in on top of our tue-thur dress, shoot & wrap at greene and grand.

last thursday night i travelled with vincent d'onofrio in a 65 mustang being pulled through times square. there was great excitement, applause and flashes whenever we stopped to reload.

when general public bumps into us, not so bad. when we bump into other production companies: some star trailer for NICK gets parked right where our set dressing truck was supposed to load out! i love being a part of creating tv in NYC.
