Enough with this story! The cops were jerks for busting her, but they probably arrested her because she was being a jerk. The only reason it is in the papers is because she has publicist friends.

I wonder what that Nassau County cop who got struck by a drunk might think of these artsy patrons, tipsy with "wine", loading themselves into their Jaguars and Escalades and hitting The L.I.E. It's always innocent fun until you put someone into a Neurosciences I.C.U. bed. And Dearest Ruth needs to quit braying about her status and pay the fucking $32. How much art did she sell that night?

They arrested her for failing to get a $31 permit??? $31! The police really have nothing better to do than arrest someone and close down a party for what amounts to a paperwork violation. Do they also arrest people for failing to register their bicycles out there? Have they adopted the parading without a permit law? Do I need to go to culinary school before I can light a BBQ now too?

Free Ruth! I love this woman, so awesome and defiant in the face of puritanical laws. Although you can see some gin being taken away in the video - it seems like people are trying to understate the amount of alcohol by saying it was just wine and champagne. But yeah, Ruth Vered is my homegirl.
