Sunny Memorial Day

Yesterday's near picture perfect day is being followed by another summery day today. Sunny skies and a southwesterly breeze should warm the city into the low 80s this afternoon. If you are going to the beach the Weather Service is now issuing surf zone forecasts for the summer. High clouds may begin to arrive in the early evening.

More clouds are in store for tomorrow. The high will still be near 80 but a cold front arriving in the evening means there will be a good chance of thunderstorms from about noon to 9 p.m. tomorrow. This is the same front that has spawned tornadoes across the Midwest over the weekend, killing at least eight people. The storm shouldn't be nearly that violent by the time it gets to the east coast.

The rain will be out of here by Wednesday. It will also be about ten degrees cooler. More seasonable temperatures and sunny skies are in store for the latter part of the week. Hurricane season officially begins next Sunday. To get ready this is Hurricane Preparedness Week.
