Wow, so its wrong for a bunch of people in their 20s and 30s to want to spend time in the park with their friends playing kickball, soccer or frisbee. Instead they should picknicking in central park to faux-gourmet food, joining an overpriced sports league at chelsea piers or antiquing in the suburbs? And we're now judging people by the way they dress or the way they look? It's nice to know how much we've progressed as a society. Give me a break. The real douchebags and self-absorbed assholes aren't the people socializing in the park, they're the people with no friends who spend their time online judging others. The 'Pirate' was incredibly stupid for skipping out on a bench warrant - and for possession. As for the sword? It was called sharp by NYPD cops - the same institution that tends to shoot unarmed people 50 times in the back, or cover their cars with dozens of bullets -- as long as they're not white. I'm far beyond trusting anything from the NYPD anymore. If it was a white guy in a business suit, I wouldn't be surprised if they called that sword 'duller than a butter knife'.

i bet: new york city is filled with significantly more elitist fuckheads from connecticut, massachusetts, jersey, upstate new york, vermont, new hampshire, virginia, maryland, italy, france, the united kingdom, germany, norway, etc. than from the whole damn u.s. midwest, a designation that says very little about culture and society, and only a little bit more about geography. but all that is beside the point when you consider that from a biological perspective every body is, in the end, a fucking loser.

Its true the pirates are a little ooc (and definitely not representative of the majority of the teams in the league), but the kickball league is superfun... as for sitting around and "waining for acceptance" - that seems rather harsh and a judgment thats WAY off. I mean we're just a bunch of people who like to play a silly sport in ridiculous uniforms on a sunday night while drinking some beer with our friends. I'm not from the midwest, and I'm not 21 (more like the other side of 25) - but its pretty fun to do something outdoors in the park with a lot of people before you have to start the work week back up again on Monday. Not quite sure why thats "disgusting"? Its weird to me that so many people find the league off-putting. I mean, does the Hasidic Softball league catch this much shit?

I played kickball at maccarren park last summer. These people take this game way way way too seriously. I also am amazed that they dress more or less like the hipsters of 6,7,8 years ago. Personally I thought it was cool back then. Now not so much. But that's probably because I'm not 21 anymore.

i walked into mccarren last night, it disgusted me. it was so sad how obvious it was that all the little white kids who move here from the midwest go there and feel so comfortable with all the hipsters playing kickball and sitting in little circles. it looked like a hipster college campus. i saw the sadness and waining for acceptance seeping out of their disgusting little bodies.
