67 burger is awesome, but its just SO EXPENSIVE.

burger, fries and a shake will set you back 16 bucks. ridiculous.

  • funkforfree

Corner Bistro is my fav. They've always got great jazz playing, open super late, and, unlike some of the other places, you can get really cheap good beer.

If ambience matters, than the Bistro is the way to go.

67 Burger is where it's at, in Ft. Greene. Surprisingly, Sputnik on Taaffe Pl. in Clinton Hill has great bison/turkey/veggie burgers.

  • JMH

Corner Bistro, and it's better now that the crowds have moved on to some of the newer places.

  • Sinchy

    Prune

    Jane

    Rare

If you are in the LES you should check out Zait Zeff(ave B and between 3rd and 2nd)

They have great burgers a little pricey but you do get what you pay for.

Another great burger is Montpernass on 51st between 1st and 2nd

If you are in the Village check out Paul's Joint its on the corner of st. marks and 2nd huge burgers with all sorts of toppings

The three (consistently) best burgers in the city, in my opinion:

    Peter Luger

Mr. Dennehy's, on Carmine (7th Ave x Blkr)

    McReilly's on Vernon in LIC

  • citygrits

Oh my favorites are either Shake Shack or Five Guys. With Five Guys, love the little cheeseburger and cajun fries. Mmmmmmm!

  • MMM510

Julius on West Tenth & Waverly is still the best in my book. Great burgers, marvelous fries and wonderful, friendly bartenders!

  • yomama

Wasn't impressed with Corner Bistro the first couple of times I went but then it started tasting better. Like the relatively cheap beer along with it.

I believe Corner Bistro uses the the George Forman grill rather than their usual grill after hours. Or maybe that's what my friends were getting me to buy when I had a bit too much of that cheap beer....

    1. J.G. Melon's

    2. BLT Burger

    3. The Stoned Crow

(I find the Corner Bistro to be incredibly overrated; my last burger there was dry and rather tasteless.)

  • EastRiver

One of my personal favs is Walkers, corner of N Moore and Varick in Tribeca.

My friends saw a giant rat walk across the room at Walkers.

  • dguido

    67 Burger in Fort Greene

  • chubbyonekanubby

I second the call for Peter Luger.

Especially with some of their bacon and luger sauce, mmm.

  • MH622

BLT Burger, Peter Lugers, and Fairway Cafe on 73rd make the best burgers in the city. Burger Joint at the Parker Meridian is highly overrated.

  • DebbieJRT

When I want a burger I go to Five Guys in College Point, Queens

  • Nick S

The Farm on Adderley on Cortelyou in Ditmas Park.

and i also had the greatest burger of my life at Pianos of all places, but every trip back since has been a letdown.

  • TimSPC

I like Gracie's on 88th St and East End Avenue.

  • slappy

One of my personal favs is Walkers, corner of N Moore and Varick in Tribeca.

  • NYC Stef

Paul's Palace in the East Village has been a favorite of ours for well over a decade.

  • matukonyc

    Paul's on Second Avenue.

  • Neil Epstein

    DuMont Burger in S. Williamsburg!

  • sidenote

Burger Joint and Corner Bistro are too crowded. For my money Jackson Hole makes the best burger only the locals eat.

JG Mellon is also an inspired pick - good call #12.

  • rdc

I'm a big fan of Five Guys. They're a chain and have many locations around the city but I go to the one on W 55 St. most often.

  • k8trsgray

    Peter Lugers

  • the cuban

Best burger goes to PJ Clark's, it's just next level good.

Honarable mention goes to both JG Mellon's and Corner Bistro which are fantastic.

  • lanciano

It's not the best in town, but the last burger I had was at New York Burger Co on 6th Ave and it was DELICIOUS. I want one now.

  • calvin

    shake shack. mmmmmm...

  • Barbj8

The waits at The Burger Joint are getting longer and longer.I used to pop in, grab a burger and enjoy the music. Now I have to wait in line like a plebe.

  • EastRiver

Corner Bistro by far. And unless they have changed cooks in the last few years, Burger Joint blows. It's one step up from McDonalds.

  • nomnomnom

@mtd I tend to think the Corner Bistro burger is only good because you're drunk and hungry after the wait. Then again, as a Shake Shack fan, I'm probably starving after that wait, so who knows.

I'll have to go back to Corner Bistro sometime soon to try it again.

  • mjbnyc

I swear by the Julius Burger at 10th and waverly, saddle up to the bar for some bottled beer and enjoy the old timmer Gays while they cook up your fresh juicy burger at a steal for only 4 bucks

  • mtd

The Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien which is unfortunately no longer a secret.

The Bar at Etats Unis had an amazing burger on an english muffin but unfortunately I haven't seen it on the menu lately.

I would also add Corner Bistro in the West Village to the list.

  • CrazyDEX

    Paul's on 2nd ave & St. Mark's. Big burgers w/ great toppings.

  • beatricelee

Umm...Ruby's on Mulberry Street, between Spring and Prince. Hands down. Feet down, too.

  • nomnomnom

My girlfriend swears by Burger Joint at The Parker Meridien. While I like Burger Joint, I personally prefer the Double Shack burger at Shake Shack.

  • AndrewODonnell

P.J. Clarke's on East 55th and 3rd Avenue...don't forget that special sauce on the side either - in my opinion, medium rare is best.
