Fossella's Wife Tells Post She Had "No Idea"

Mary Pat Fossella has made her first public words after her Congressman husband's DWI arrest and admission about an extramarital affair and love child. She sent an e-mail to the Post:

This has been a very painful time for my family and I. I have known Vito since I was 16 years old and this is not what I envisioned for him and my family. I had no idea of this world he was living. I am very saddened by how the world I was living unraveled before my eyes and everyone else's. My focus will continue to be on (my) three children.

Fossella's decision not to run for re-election has sparked a "scramble" for his seat and the possible contenders are various middle-aged men and maybe one woman. Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan, a Republican, looks like a frontrunner, though.

For the record, Laura Fay said that Vito Fossella claimed to be separated. (Well he was separated in the sense that his wife was in Staten Island, while he was in Wash. DC most of the time.)

I find it difficult to believe that this woman had no idea what her hubby was doing but whatever-- I wish her peace & happiness as she gets through this crazy time with her children...

AS FOR THE LAURA FAY woman who slept with a married man: SHAME on you. You knew he was married and it takes two to tango. Then you produce a child and bring this innocent child into your sordid world? You are just as corrupt and stupid as the man you cheated with. It was not only Mrs. Fossella who "had no idea." Neither did the voters who elected slick Vito.

Unfortunately, some of those voters still have no idea.

She breaks her silence with a poorly worded email to the NY Post? Why wouldn't she have rounded up a "spokesperson" or a cousin or something to make a statement on her behalf.
