All My Sons, Arthur Miller’s tragedy about wartime profiteering, will be coming to an undetermined theater on Broadway at an unspecified date this fall. But nothing generates more buzz than when a Hollywood celebrity joins the cast – in this case that boldfaced name is Katie Holmes, who will try to inject a little integrity into her career by performing live onstage, just out of reach of her Scientology "chaperone."
This year’s been tough on Holmes’s thetan; her last movie, Mad Money, flopped, and NY Post film critic (and total SP) Kyle Smith wrote that Holmes “looks terrible and acts worse, unless this movie is unintentionally a lobotomy documentary. Whatever could have happened to her in the last couple of years to zap the talent out of her like this?” Yes, what could it be?
Holmes joins a cast that thus far includes John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson.

Jen, I believe you're correct. I used to work near-ish to the theatre district and would see Scientologists in their red winter coats on my way to work.
The coats had huge embroidery on the back that said "DIANETICS. Live it, Learn it."

Those who are brainwashed to thinking they live only one lifetime are entitled to their delusions.

Of course, in a drug dependent (prozac and other 'happy pills") society that is fairly illiterate (the average American reads at 5th grade level and is not capable of evaluating complex data) what do you expect?
People make decisions and form opinions on sound bites. Sure there are a small number of people who are now ex-Scientologists. Some were not properly serviced. That happens. Others were turned off.
And then there's Annyonymous without the cojones to stand in front of Mosques and demand that Islamic leaders stop the wholesale murders in the Middle East -- or demand of the psych industry why it doesn't report the number of deaths from electic shock, lobotomies (paid for from taxes -- such as Medicare -- and insurance premiums).
And further brainwashing idiocy. There's an increasing number of people who think hypnotism and hypno-therapy is beneficial, when all it is is going futher under another's control.
More importantly -- as you'll learn in Dianetics -- hypnotism actually stimulates traumas of the past, which FURTHER decreases the awareness of existence.
It's not that inividuals are dumb, they have been dumbed down by a failed educational system.
Jesus Christ taught that Man was created by God. The individual is a spiritual being. In around 564AD a group of political Vatican hacks decided to remove that concept and instill the 'fear of the devil' and really convolute the truth in trappings that have nothing to do with Jesus' original message.
I find it immensely amusing that there are still people in the 21st century that think Earth is the only planet that could have technological societies. That's just another brainwashing tool of the Vatican that helped create the Dark Ages.
On the plus side, the Vatican just announced that God's creation of spiritual beings is not limited to Earth. Took 1,500 years to get them to admit it. Maybe now we can start thinking in terms of reality, not brainwashing b.s.

I did see that scene in "the Gift" and know she was on Dawson's Creek. Her best work, sans nudity, was "Go".
All of that aside, I still didn't think you could call what she did a career... more like a hobby.
