A pregnant woman driving an SUV in Midtown went into labor and drove the car into a crowd at Rockefeller Center, near West 49th Street, yesterday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. Most of the crowd managed to get out of the way, but at least one pedestrian was hit (some reports say four were injured) and the guard rail was damaged.
Apparently the woman told police she "became dizzy and disoriented" on her way to pick up her husband. She had a young daughter in the back of the car--the Post has a picture of the girl crying. The pregnant woman was taken to NY Presbyterian Hospital, but her husband did not comment on her or the baby's condition.
A witness told 1010 WINS if there weren't guardrail there to stop the SUV, "it definitely would have gone over the fountain." Police are not planning file charges against the driver. Recently, a van jumped a curb in a Harlem and hit a number of pedestrians.

I've never heard of anyone going into labor and crashing their car as a result. This seems a bit strange. Seizures I can understand.

lanciano, if you're on Firefox you should use Adblock Plus. It pretty much guarantees your days of annoying advertisements are over.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? It's all "me, me, me" nowadays. I'll do whatever I want even if it endangers others. I'll drive without my meds. I'll drive on the due date of my pregnancy. I'll drive even if I'm 90 years old, legally blind, half-deaf and have the reflexes of a snail on Valium.
I hope the child is okay. Now with that said:
WTF! is with Long Islanders and taking their goddamn SUVs through Midtown. It's they're all agoraphobic assholes out there and their SUV is armor or better yet, their strap-on dick. No sympathy at all for the stubborn super mom who just *had* to be in the city while she's ready to pop out a sprog any second.
