Another Cool Week Ahead

wxch_hidep0519.jpgThe month of May is remaining stubbornly cool. While the first four months of the year were all warmer than average, this month is running nearly two degrees below normal. This week will keep the month on its cool streak. The normal high for today is 72. The mix of wind, clouds, sun and possibly a shower this afternoon will keep the maximum for today to the mid-60s at best. That's nowhere near the record high of 99 set in 1962.

An upper level trough is parking itself over the northeast this week. This lets cooler air slink southward. The trough also makes clouds and precipitation more likely. So, expect a cool week with highs mostly in the lower- to mid-60s through Thursday. Each day will offer its own special clear/cloudy sky mix with at least a slight chance of rain every day. Rain is looking most likely on Wednesday.

The trough is expected to finally rotate eastward late in the week. If all goes as expected drier air will arrive on Friday followed by a gradual warming over the Memorial Day weekend. Temperatures are currently projected to reach the mid-70s by Sunday.

This weather right now is magic. Its not hot and not cold.

I love it and wish it could stay this way through 80 percent of the summer with maybe a couple weeks in august when its really hot.

I am cold.

You're a sissy.
