The very fact that he thinks Staten Islanders (and some Brooklynites) would send him back to Congress is a real honest to God insult to those people. At the moment, he wins the Guiliani award for the politician most in need of a good ass-kicking (politically, of course).

Before he was elected to Congress, Fossella was on the City Council representing Staten Island. As a member of City Council, Fossella advocated the installation of a major waste transfer station in residential Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. So there is no love for him in that community. Both Fossella's father and uncle are large developers in Staten Island which has some of the tackiest-looking new housing in the city. Fossella is clever and talks a good line, but what has he actually done for his constituents?

This is no big shocker. He was in a local parade in the neighborhood he and his family live in. They are part of that community. He might have a different reaction in other parts of Staten Island. Odds are he wouldn't march in those parades and he certainly wouldn't march in the sections of Brooklyn he represents.

Christ, my sister was going to Fordham at the same time. Thank god this asshole was in Lincoln Center X number of miles and subway stops away from her!
