Ready, Set, Kite 2. Crafty kite enthusiasts 3. start your wind-powered engines 4. bring a store-bought flying machine 5. the fest 6. A "neighborhood cafe" 7. the fest I don't know Jen Carlson, and maybe she's a really great person, but it feels like everything she writes annoys the living crap out of me. The posts about Hotel Chelsea, or some Park Slope Community Board, even a simple report about a kite festival makes my skin crawl. It's weird, I've never had such a consistently bad reaction to a person's writing style; it's like an allergy or something. On the flip side, I don't mind Jen Chung's writing style a bit. Sure, she makes a lot of spelling errors and doesn't care a lick about proofreading, but her style is direct and unpretentious. </p>
