Landlord Accused of Putting Bomb Under Tenant's Car

2008_05_bomb.jpgBrooklyn prosecutors have charged a landlord with trying to kill a tenant. Yung Tang is accused of attempted murder, assault and arson for the 2002 incident.

According to prosecutors, Tang wanted to evict tenant Israel Halberstam, who was $100,000 behind on rent on an electronics showroom space. Tang planted a homemade bomb under Halberstam's minivan; when the tenant moved his vehicle, the bomb exploded and he lost a leg. Initially, the incident worried people that it might be terrorist-related.

The Daily News reports that Tang was arrested last year, just within the five-year statute of limitations. And after he was released, "cops found him sleeping in his car in a Connecticut parking lot" with "a bag full of bomb-making material, silencers, a disguise and other items." Tang pleaded not guilty and his lawyer said, "We believe there is a lot more than meets the eye in this case. Stay tuned."

"We believe there is a lot more than meets the eye in this case."

Counselor, are you implying that your client is, in fact, a Transformer?

as a straight man, i must admit, that i love me some Yung Tang.

(not too Yung, or that Tang would be illegal)

He was found with the bomb making bits in his car, as well as other pretty incriminating bits of evidence... who does he think he's kidding by pleading Not-Guilty?

"Brooklyn prosecutors have charged a landlord with Trying to kill a tenant."

Capitalized?

$100,000 in rent? Wouldn't you just, I don't know, evict him? More work, I guess, but it has the added advantage of not being a felony.

Where's Al Sharpton?

Couldn't resist.

Is Yung Tang an animal and a thug too?

"We believe there is a lot more than meets the eye in this case."

I can believe that. They'll probably find evidence that he was responsible for other bombings, too, like the Times Square one a couple of months ago.

Was the enlisting office in Times Square behind on rent also?

I saw Sue Simmons sleeping in her car in Connecticut once. I think there's more that meets her eyes.

lol @ Muscley Armed Paper Boy and Zodak.

Bomb under the car - I would say that it sounds like some real old school greaseball shit, but Yung Tang doesn't sound Sicilian.

Waor-Waor-Wair-Waor! (Transforming noise)
