Dancing with a Big Butt

This woman was spotted dancing on West 23rd Street with a prosthetic butt last week. She was trying to publicize ~~her own performance or film~~ a Parsons art show (she was a subject in one of the photographs), but we suspect she was actually challenging He-Man for attention in south-of-the-Naked Cowboy Flatiron/ Madison Square Park/ Union Square region.

Another thing a prosthetic butt has been used for: Hiding stolen goods.

OK, A few corrections. Her name is Elana Katz and this was not a publicity stunt, but rather a performance piece. The work that featured her in the show was her own work and a self portrait. Elana's work deals with female body image and how women distort their body to conform to beauty standards. Here is a link to the artist statement for this piece as well as her other works.

Also, the performance took place on West 22nd street (not 23rd as stated), outside of Calumet Gallery where the Parsons School of Design thesis exhibition was held.
