Herroner? The Hillary for NYC Mayor Idea

2008_05_hillclint.jpgAs Senator Hillary Clinton ignores calls to drop out and gets ready for a likely West Virginia primary victory, Politico's Ben Smith reveals one funny suggestion from a NYC politician: Clinton should run for mayor in 2009.

The politician's reasoning is that though it's not being leader of freed world, "it's a big executive job, comes with a media spotlight and a mansion." Smith asked Koch for a comment (Koch yelled at Smith for "wasting his time") and the former mayor who supports Clinton for president said, "She’s not going to run for mayor of New York City, and if she did, I don’t think she could win."

Though Smith thinks Clinton would win the mayoral race easily, hopeful Congressman Anthony Weiner told him, "She may beat me in the popular vote, but I've got more supers." Yeah, and it's unclear how her support in the black community might be faring these days.

stop trying to keep that carpet bagging bitch relevant. as soon as she sore loses to obama bet money that she doesn't run again for senate, opting instead to bilk her special interest supporters for as much cash as she can hoard so when she pimps out chelsea to run for office.

That gay dude in the background puffing out his pecs and flexing his triceps is freekin hilarious!

I love to see a poll as to what % of New Yorkers now regret their primary vote for Hil.

Because she's done so much for New York State as Senator.

er, no, she hasn't...

i'd vote for her over weiner

Actually, I don't think she would necessary win a mayoral election. She's really pissed of a lot of people the past few months.

I love the picture in the nytimes. The woman behind Clinton has a shirt "Obama '08"! HA!!!

Last time I checked, you have to live in NYC to run for mayor, not the mighty borough of Chappaqua.
Ben Smith might be an idiot who doesn't know where she lives or an loud mouth who doesn't care.

She couldn't manage the finances of her campaign. Why would I entrust the finances of the city to her?

LOL @ #2

And I honestly don't think she knows much about New York. Doesn't anybody remember that the Clintons' move to New York was for political reasons?

anyways, it's unlikely that she would give up her Senate seat to try her hand as Mayor.

Would it be so hard to have a New Yorker be Mayor of New York?

My feelings about Rudy Giuliani are probably well-known by now, but at least I'll say this: When he used to talk about how New York could "kick your city's ass" you got a sense that he had actually lived in it.

Christine Quinn would beat her -- both in the election and in the mud ring.

Be fun to watch at least.

don't we have enough problems? she doesn't care one bit about NY, or the country for that matter. She would sell her grandmother to get ahead.

#2, that's not just any "gay dude", that's Bloomberg's boytoy.

And Mayor Hillary? Didn't that syndicated t.v. show get pounded by Judge Judy?

SP,

I actually laughed out loud when I read your comment and looked at the picture. Greatness.
