Daffy's. I discovered it first in NYC, and the one in Philadelphia simply doesn't compare to any of the New York locations.

The Brooklyn Flea?? It's a joke of a flea market, unless you're looking for clever silkscreened baby clothes and expensive refurbished tin ceiling crap (which you can buy in their stores on both coasts!).

I love the Housing Works thrift shops for clothes, art, and furniture. For dresses I hit up Filenes and Loehmanns. Shoes at DSW. For jewelry it's usually street vendors. And yes, Target for almost everything else.

@Steven - is the Target in Marble Hill any different than any other Target?

It's usually well stocked and cleaner than the other targets in the city.

I usually get a hefty consulting fee for this...

The Brooklyn Century 21. Everything is marked down even more from the Manhattan one, and it is 1/100th of the zoo that place is. You can try things on without having to participate in the Lower Manhattan Bargain Rodeo Euro-Karate 2-Step If you hit it on a weekday after work, it's like being in Barney's, minus the bender inducing guilt. Then walk 5 blocks to Tanoreen for the best Middle Eastern Food in the City (Even the stuffy Zagat folks think so). BYOB.

The Duracell batteries with the energizer bunny on the package were the best bargain ever...if they'd worked. Stupid bodega.

I love the cheap produce on the streets in Chinatown. 10 bucks goes a looong way! For clothes, I'm a fan of H&M.

street vendors!

(not the counterfeit ones, the ones selling legal stuff). Being a 28 year old male, I don't care for designer purses anyways.
