• From the Gothamist Newsmap: Falling bricks at 63rd Street in Brooklyn, a shooting a 181st Street and Arthur Ave in the Bronx, and a downed tree at 251 Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens.
• A woman jumped in front of an A train at the 42nd Street-8th Avenue stop, killing herself and delaying service on five subway lines.
• Elizabeth Hasselbeck is moving her brood to an swank Upper West Side condo, which makes sense, since the View's studios are also off the 1 line.
• Community Board 11 in Queens voted down the landmarking an extension of the Douglaston historic district. Apparently 80% of the residents in the area were against it.
• The Broadway actor who was seriously injured before a matinee of The Little Mermaid had surgery to his wrists; Adrian Bailey also suffered compressed vertebrae.

• And death toll has been rising exponentially from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the Sichuan province of China. The current estimate is over 7,000 fatalities.
