Since it's suspected Mayor Bloomberg's favorite epithet is "unconscionable," why not keep track of his least-liked words? Based on this video taken by the Observer's Azi Paybarah, Bloomberg does not like the word "maintain" that much..
According to Paybarah, Newsday reporter Michael Frazier used the word in a Sean Bell-shooting related question during a press conference about "a new way of processing juvenile court cases." Maybe the Mayor was still sore about only getting a London Underground button-down from London Mayor-elect Boris Johnson after giving him a crystal apple from Tiffany?

Wow. Snippy rich guy. 'Course that's what we elected.
Well, if you got sand kicked in your face from the likes of Shel Silver on a regular basis you'd be snippy too, I suppose.

Words DO have meaning-
This is a wonderful clip of how the Mayor dealt with an obstreperous reporter schmuck who tried to characterizes his question- and hence would then characterize ANY answer- to that question. . . AND BLOOMBERG WAS BRILLIANTLY QUICK ENOUGH TO CATCH IT!!
Great! Just Great! There should be 'media-handling' lessons for truthful, good (and honest) politicians!!

Bloomy took the journalist's use of "maintain" as a shot at him being dishonest? What is Bloomy hiding? Or are more people questioning the manner Bloomy operates?

looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the billionaire bed this morning.

"Maintain" does not have a definition that connotes lying... look it up, Bloomy. Obviously, this is Bloomberg's attempt to avoid any questions re: Sean Bell --- note he doesn't cut the reporter off until Bell is mentioned.

He should have said, "Oh I maintain that, do I, just like your momma maintains you are a successful journalist?"
