NY Times Reports NY Times Publisher's Separation

2008_05_newsfit.jpgIt's one thing to write about investors unhappy with your boss's business decisions. It's another, probably more awkward thing to write about his separation from his wife! Which is probably by the a short article reporting the separation of Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and his wife, artist Gail Gregg is unbylined (well, it's says "By THE NEW YORK TIMES") .

Sulzberger, also chairman of the NY Times Company, and Gregg, both 56, issued this statement: "We have made the difficult decision to separate after 33 years of marriage. We are fortunate to have the love and support of our two children, other family members and close friends and colleagues. This is a private matter and we will not discuss it further.â€

Back in February, Sulzberger transferred ownership of their Central Park duplex apartment to Gregg for $3.2 million. The Times spokesperson said at the time it was for "estate planning purposes." And when the couple had their first child in 1980, the Times ran a story, "Sulzbergers Have Son."

Maybe Pinch will get back together with Judy Miller.

"Sulzberger caught at New Jersey Turnpike rest area trading grams of cocaine for anonymous toilet sex. No other details are available at this time, check back with us in 28 years."

Two people getting a divorce doesn't become news just because they're rich.
