- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a person under a train at Grant and Glenmore Aves. in Brooklyn, a missing emotionally disturbed person from Myrtle Ave. and 66th Pl. in Queens, and an armed robbery on 131st St. and Amsterdam Ave. in Manhattan.
- Attorney General Cuomo announced that Facebook has agreed to "implement more than 40 safeguards to protect young users from sexual predators, fraud, and online bullying" and ban convicted sex offenders.
- Dan Rather is still angry with CBS for making him the scapegoat of the faked National Guard document scandal. The veteran newsman has been unable to find even part-time work because he feels he was hung out to dry.

- City Room reports international sightings of the winking thumbs-up chef that can be spotted around NYC outside some pizzerias. Also, some disturbing anthropomorphic food figures.
- John McCain has been in town to take in $7 million of NYC Republican donor money. No word on how those donors feel about VP possibility Dwight K. Shrute.
- Gowanus Lounge notes a pimped-out bus shelter in Park Slope that includes a collection of different chairs.
- State lawmakers are looking to legalize the sale of beer and wine in movie theaters, because obnoxious people are currently too inhibited at the movies these days apparently.
