WCBS 2's Pablo Guzman in Car Accident
Yikes! This photograph of a mangled car is what happened to WCBS 2 reporter Pablo Guzman. The WCBS 2 website says Guzman only suffered a broken rib and "wants everyone to know that the only reason he's alive is because he was wearing his seatbelt" but "Details of what caused the crash are not yet known.
The Journal News has some details: Guzman was involved in a one-car accident on the Cross County Parkway, apparently losing control of his Honda CRV: He "drifted into the right lanes and off the road. His vehicle struck a road sign and smashed into a rock wall near the parkway, spinning his Honda around."
Eep! No one else was injured and Guzman was being held overnight at a hospital for observation. You can send your get well wishes to Guzman here.

Holy shit!
Eep?
Is that a smart car?
For all the damage, there doesn't appear to be any intrusion into the area around the driver's seat. Guzman's survival space was not compromised and so long as he wasn't ejected (thanks to his seatbelt) the crash really wasn't as grave a danger as it might seem from the photo.
I would imagine speed played a factor, since he lost control of the vehicle.
Good thing there wasn't another vehicle involved in the accident.
Fun Fact: Pablo Guzmán was one of the founders of the radical Young Lords Party in Spanish Harlem which was the Puerto Rican equivalent of the Black Panthers
"lost control" = drunk and/or sleeping
Late Cinco do Mayo celebration?
He "drifted" into the right lanes and off the road? Did he have a stroke?
Some people can't drive and snort blow at the same time. And those people are a menace.
