The R Bar, on the corner of Graham and Meeker in Williamsburg. Owned and operated and populated by neighborhoods natives.

  • cutlass

    1. Sonny's - Red Hook

    2. Alibi - Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill

    3. Mona's - Ave. B

    4. Montero - Atlantic Ave.

    5. Milano's - Houston St.

Problem is, barely a bar is left in NY that doesn't get over-run most nights by twerps.

There's only one correct answer here, and that's Vig Bar on Spring Street. That place is the Cheers of Nolita.

    Runners up below Houston:

    Milady's

    Botanica

    Puck Fair

Marshall Stack, for suds and snacks.

And during the summer, I'm a fan of the West Side Boat Basin. It's crowded and noisy, but it's right by the water.

Montero's on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn Heights.

Truly old school. Circa 1940's neon sign out front, weathered interior, cheap beer and spirits, and never, never crowded.

And Charlie, the owner's son's dog, who is often in residence, is a good kisser.

I will totally back up the Harry Boland's recommendation on 9th St. and 5th Ave. It's a neighborhood joint with a heterogenous crowd. The bar staff could not be better and the owner is a super nice guy. It's like going into an older NYC; it's awesome.

Definitely blue and gold in the east village. Love the pool table and juke. As well as the cold and cheap beer.

  • thefacts

The Rainbow Room bar, the bar at the grill at the Four Season, the Carlyle, the bar at the Harvard Club

  • loloside

East Village-Blue&Gold. Love the pool table and juke. And cheap ass cold beers.

  • schizofriendly

    Three way tie:

    1. Sunny's — Red Hook

    2. Freddy's — Prospect Heights

    3. Pete's Waterfront Alehouse — Brooklyn Heights
