I would like to comment on the lack of communication at the stations (yet again): I live in Astoria, and when I was heading home yesterday evening at the 5th Ave/59th street stop, there were officials telling everyone coming in that there was no downtown service but that all uptown service was running. The N, as noted above, was not running. After watching a few R's go past, I finally decided I would be on the next train no matter what it was. It's not a huge deal for me (an extra 8 minutes of walking), but it would be for other people who live farther from the R. During all my time on the platform, there were quite a few station announcements, and not one of them mentioned that there was no Astoria-bound service. Thanks for keeping me updated, MTA.
