Sharpton Publicizes His Flash Mobs

50shots.jpgAl Sharpton released the locations and schedule of his civil disobedience capaign, which is supposed to take place next week. The purpose is to maximize public inconvenience, and Al Sharpton decided that it would be more effective to have as many people show up as possible, as well as to let the NYPD where they were going to be in advance. NY1 reports "The goal of the protests is to tie up traffic and force police to make arrests.

Here's the rundown of Wednesday's pray-in protest, which is meant to disrupt civic life as much as possible in order to get the police ot recognize that they can't shoot people without repercussions. Three cops were found not guilty in the shooting of Sean Bell this week. Sharpton says the protests will continue on a weekly basis, leading up to what he hopes will be a citywide shutdown. Places to avoid or appear, depending on one's schedule:

  • Third Avenue at 125th Street;
  • Park Avenue at 34th Street;
  • Third Avenue at 60th Street;
  • Varick and Houston Streets;
  • One Police Plaza;
  • 415 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.
Sharpton's not the only person protesting the Sean Bell verdict. State senator Rev. Ruben Diaz and his son, who is an assemblyman, will be marching from the location of Amadou Diallo's death in the Bronx, to the 43rd Precinct headquarters today.

    Snoopy: According to Newsday, the so-called "pray-ins" are all scheduled for Wednesday at 3 PM.

    How does Rev. Al expect people to show up to protest during the week? It will be hard for a lot of people to take off from work to---

    oh, RIGHT.

    I thought Al wanted to ban the N word, not have thousands of people stuck in traffic screaming it with their windows rolled up.

  • harlemupandcoming

    this is ridiculous. 5 locations? during a weekday. They had a protest IN Harlem on a weekend and only 100 people showed up. What? Will there be like one guy in the middle of traffic trying to disrupt it on Wednesday.

    Al sharpton should be arrested. If his was arab, he'd be in gitmo by now.

    Anyone else notice that Nicole Paultre's two kids look nothing like their parents? Isn't there a point where stereotypes become reality and must be accepted?

    I just hope that if any of our citizens die because

    an emergency vehicle cannot arrive in time to save

    them,that Rev. Sharpton should be responsible.

    I would sue him in a second if it were my family

    hurt.I might do more than sue him.

    This is stupidity and inciting mayhem.

    Are we now to protest every judge's ruling?

    They won't burn down their neighborhood since their property values rose too high. But maybe they'll take it out on "whitey businesses" like Starbucks and McDonalds.(although targeting the latter could have the unintentional consequence of a famine worse than anything seen in Somalia)

    -and sorry, babyhitler, according to the FBI, there have been no reported rapes in Algonquin since the 16th century...and that rapist was later exonerated because "raping" a girl in the midst of the Corn Dance was actually encouraged.

    Sharpton really is a moron to choose Varick and Houston as a place to tie up traffic. For much of the day traffic already is tied up at that intersection due to cars heading toward the Holland Tunnel!

  • monkeylover

    I hope Al plans this for the evening rush.

    We all know that the bacon doesn't start frying in the ghetto until 3:00 PM.

    Don't want my homies to miss breakfast.....

    The Sean Bell case is closed and done with. The judge has made his final decision. Time to move on Sharpton and look for your next victim.

  • JDSX

    Sharpton is a racist thug and the biggest pimp of black people.

  • shamanovsky

    I hope they all get arrested, the way bikers are arrested during critical mass.

    Spare no one.

  • Snoopy

    Is there like a web site or a mailer or something I can go to to find out the exact times of all these disruptions?

    Talk about someone that's lost in the sixties.

  • dooWOP

    When are these people going to realize that Sean Bell was only a no good thug who was worth squat in the US of White America. I be just keepin it real, peoples.

  • ihateallbrokers

    oh i cant wait for the riots!! whoohooo!

  • Dave Hogarty

    I'll take civil disobedience over violent self-destructive rioting any day. I'm not sure what Sharpton envisions the endgame being with these protests, but I hope no one gets hurt.

  • Nunyah Bidnit

    "The goal of the protests is to tie up traffic and force police to make arrests."

    How can Sharpton get away with this? He doesn't want to just protest - he wants to provoke the cops to make arrests, which just seems like baiting the already primed crowds to violence. Can't they arrest him in advance for inciting a riot? Ugh!

  • berniegoetz

    I think it would be a waste of taxpayer money to bother stopping the 125th St./3rd Ave protests. If Fat Albert wants to disrupt Harlem businesses, it will only beckon gentrification that much sooner.

  • ihateallbrokers

    wow forget traffic blocking protests,

    stinkbombs on the train, smokebombs on buses,

    burning cop cars, prankcall food deliveries,

    sit in protests at hipster hangouts, acid bombing real estate brokers windows, spraypainting taxi cabs, penny deposits on line at the bank, glue blocked atm machines, stuffed parking meters,

  • JacqueMehoff

    those locations are no fun,

    have a few in Bensonhurst and Wall street,

    stock in watermelon and KFC will rise and you'll see how ugly people can get. or, pass a construction site, same difference.

    thankfully Pb is still cheap.

  • ihateallbrokers

    50 shots = 50 dead cops would have been a better sign, flash mobs appearing at non publicized locations would be really effective, since there will not be enough manpower to detain&transport people at the non-disclosed locations.
