Police Officer's Son Found Stabbed to Death

2008_04_scantlbury.jpgA police officer's son was found stabbed multiple times in the hallway of a building on Gates Avenue in Brooklyn. Renato Scantlebury, 18, was pronounced dead the hospital.

A tenant told the Daily News Scantlebury "had gotten into a fistfight with two men outside the building after he made a snide comment about their T-shirts" an earlier. The tenant said, "He died over that?"

Another witness told NY1, "He was trying to get away. The other kid was telling him, 'this is how I give it up.' All you could see was the repeated punctures, swings, the lunges that he was giving to the guy. While he was trying to get away he took his shirt off and you could see all the blood on his chest and all over his body."

Scantlebury lived with his mother, Lisa Wade, who works in NYPD recruitment. He had been working at Chuck E. Cheese, studying for his GED, and was an aspiring rapper, according to friends and family. His father said Scantlebury loved his 1-year-old daughter, "He was just a good kid."

When the catch the guys who did this, the cops will gently smack their balls with a nightstick during the stripsearch.

I think he was gay. He had that gay open mouth, pouty lips look that hookers and homos use.

Plus the feminine head tilt. He's beckoning for some man loving.

al sharpton is busy shutting down new york, er someting.,

i don't blame the victim but based on the quotes, this kid asked for it. he probably forgot that he wasn't playing gta.

"asking for it"? A snide comment could be simply saying "nice shirt" sarcastically. Not really a capital offense.

Never 51 shot cops around when you need them!

the quotes are funny

"he never talk bad about people"

umm thats why he was stabbed

"He was trying to get his high school diploma, all that, GED, whatever he was on it," added another. "You stopped the man from living his dream."

people actually dream about GED?

Killed over a comment about a shirt.

Sad.

And if "snide comments" were punishable by death, 3/4 of Gothamist commenters would be six feet under.

al sharpton couldn't shut down a dunkin donuts.

"And if "snide comments" were punishable by death, 3/4 of Gothamist commenters would be six feet under."

True, but we don't make snide comments to people who we know are thugs. If you can't say something nice (to someone who will probably kill you) don't say anything at all.

Amen #9. What a sad story. I can't imagine being that second witness.

jaja, comment number 1 is priceless. "gently" being the key word, i'm sure.

and howbout, that's an important addition to that little rule of thumb.

pretty damn unnecessary, it seems, the comment and the response...but, you know, some people take their shirts pretty seriously, and you have to watch out for those people.

killed, robbed or mugged your an aspiring rapper

a person of high calibur even though you only

have a GED and work at chuckie cheese.

get killed or injured while committing a crime your a wanna-be rapper, please refer to the NY POST for proof

That's a pretty lame shirt he has on the pic. Seriously, is that a hippo or what? The perp must have had something even more lame...like a platypus or something.

Do not talk bad about someone who just departed. Some people are spoiled by the idea that they can say anything here. In real life these people probably walk around staring at their feet, avoiding eye contact with everyone and trembling inside whenever a macho or an african american walks by, but here they feel secure and naughty.
We DO NOT know what happened, stop your theories, wait for the cops to solve the case and then shoot your derogatory disrespectful and inhuman comments.

rumor has it it was the result of a m4m craigslist date gone wrong...

how long do we have to wait?

i hear linda stein is the top broker in hell!!!

This just proves that if you find someone's shirt distasteful, take some initiative and start stabbing them before they have a chance to counter your point.

Had It coming. When was becoming a rapper an aspiring dream.?
What happens when you have a big ego. Someone else always has a bigger one than you.
