He had to distance himself, because he's a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was [portrayed as] anti-American. … He did, as I said, what politicians do.” Did he just call Obama a politician?

Rev. Wright is taking the bullet for Sen. Obama. He's comig out loud & clear that this is HIS message... and he's verbally distancing himself from Obama, in what can only be seen as a Christlike act of self-sacrifice. I'm surprised that the pundits haven't seen it this way.

Any achievement this jackass has under his belt is tossed out by his comments. He pretty much came out and reinforced what all the critics were saying. I'm not sure how you can spin his referring to italians as "onion noses" as anything but racist. He called the crucifixion of Jesus a "lynching...Italian style". At least the Howard Dean Scream was funny. I'll be content to let Obama stew in this for awhile. I'm still pissed he threw his own grandmother under the bus in part to try and justify this guy's rants.

How many times have Bush's religious advisors said things like America caused 911, the people in New Orleans deserved it because of their sins, and AIDS is God punishing gays? What Wright says isn't nearly as bad as those people. Alex, you're preaching to the choir, so to speak. Those of us with little tolerance of religion in politics are more likely to be in the Democratic party (or at least NOT in the Republican party), so we expect better behavior for those associated with such candidates. People making a fuss are NOT fans of right wing preachers, so this is not a valid argument. Obama knows this, and I think he's been fairly effective and polite in putting his distance between the two. Yes Charlesbklyn, separation of church and state. If he truly possessed the "character" you believe, he'd STFU for the sake of Obama's campaign. What does he really hope to accomplish other than self-promotion? Just because you are ordained, you don't get a free pass for oral diarrhea.

I thought this was the most interesting quote from Wright: "Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy. He didn't put me in chains, he did not put me in slavery, and he didn't make me this color." Which is especially funny because if someone did a DNA analysis, Wright would almost certainly show up as being far more white than black. I wouldn't be surprised if he is less than one-eighth black.

This is completely outrageous. Mr. Wright served in the military for 6 years and is a long time religious minister. I believe he should be given a lot more respect and deference. Who is anyone to question this man's patriotism and character. America is losing its dignity and sense of reason with the constant bashing of this man. The truth is he is being attacked by men, and women, of lesser stature and character. We would only be fools to believe them. Separation of church and state? Or is this only a divide for white people? Black people have a lot to be aggrieved about, and we shame ourselves once again by lambasting what and how black churches talk, preach and pray. Shame on us all ... again.

This is a perfect example of the media creating a self-fulfilling prophesy. Why is this important? Because Rev. Wright is claiming so much media time, "drowning out" Obama. Who says so? The media. It's a second helping of pure hype. In the interest of equal time, we need some more scrutiny of the way Hillary laughs and cries. Political reportage is supposed to create an informed electorate and serve the democratic process. Instead, we get this crap.
