Obama "Outraged" and "Saddened" by Wright's Remarks

Responding to his former pastor's recent controversial remarks, Barack Obama gave a press conference where he expressed dismay and specifically said, “I’m outraged by the comments that were made and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday...I find these comments appalling. It contradicts everything that I’m about and who I am....Whatever relationship I had with Rev Wright has changed as a result of this."

The presidential candidate, whose campaign appears to be suffering due to the attention on the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, added, "The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in my speech in Philadelphia explaining that he's done enormous good. ... But when he states and then amplifies such ridiculous propositions as the U.S. government somehow being involved in AIDS. ... There are no excuses. They offended me. They rightly offend all Americans and they should be denounced."

Obama's speech is above.

Do people actually care about this story?

I guess they must, but it seems crazy for me, as a middle-class liberal atheist, that anybody would actually care what Obama's pastor is saying.

Obama obviously goes to church to look religious, end of story.

Machiavelli said, "Therefore, a prince doesn't need to have all the qualities mentioned earlier, but ... it's good to appear to be pious, faithful, humane, honest, and religious,"

Republicans are funny- youre either Redneck White Trash Racists, or Billionaire Robber Barron Scumbags who are responsible for 90% of the problems that the Redneck White Trash Racists have.

  • Guest

I'm not defending him, but maybe Obama fell asleep in church a lot. I know I did when I was forced to go.

  • Spirit of 76

You should copyright that. If Obama gets elected, the press will use that phrase. "The Obama Drama continues. Film at 11."

  • likesrudylikesbooty

    Save the drama for Obama.

You know the Reverend will not sit quietly and sip on a tall glass of STFU after this.

The government didn't make crack for the ghetto. Their sin was not cracking down on crack in the ghetto. They would allow drug users to peddle in the ghetto knowing that blacks would be addicted. If drug dealers went to white neighborhoods they would have got their asses beat by the cops.

  • aveB4life

the government made crack for the ghetto too

Translation "I sat through this guy's ministry for 20 years and now that I'm running for president I have to distance myself from him so as to garner the nomination, I still agree with Reverend Wright though cause he ministered to my family for 20 YEARS!!!!"

  • thefacts

It isn't like the minister just began to say this stuff recently, right?

Why would Obama sit through this message on the Lord's Day for 20 years?

Maybe his name really is Barack Osama!

Obama will say and do anything to get elected. At least Hillary's honest about the fact that she's a whore, streetwalking through primaries and workin' her stuff in voting booths.

What did Wright say that was so bad? Sure he may have said some outlandish things but he doesn't wish people dead in rapture like McCain's pastor advised Rod Parsley does. Heaven forbid people have dissenting opinions on the US Government.

Obama wussed out by throwing him under the bus but he had to to have any chance at getting elected.

  • Spirit of 76

I like how one of the Obama supporters tried to excuse the whole thing by saying how even people who were married for 20 years might be surprised that their spouse might have a secret life. All well and good, except that Wright's views were never a secret. This is the same stuff he's been saying to churchgoers for the last few decades. And it took Obama this long to notice it? Shades of Dubya's unparalleled sense of denial on a wide range of topics, from global warming to Iraq.

  • matty

This is awesome. The one thing holding him back was this idiot and now he is telling the country that Wright is dumped so to speak.

  • Snoopy

Yo Obama borrow someone's cellphone and call the Rev. up and tell him STFU. Maybe then he will get your message.

AIDS most likely jumped from primates to humans by those that eat bush meat. And the CIA doesn't raise primates as far as I know. They could though, they are kind of sneaky at times.

  • CKNY

For people that allegedly want Black people to advance is society, Rev. Sharpton & Rev Wright certainly are doing a bang up job of sabotaging Obama's campaign.
