Window Smoker's Midtown Fall

2008_04_cig.jpgA woman who was smoking out a Midtown apartment window fell four stories but somehow managed to survive. The Daily News reports that a 34-year-old woman from Delaware (she was visiting her brother) is in stable condition with head trauma.

According to the FDNY, the woman "fell into a narrow alleyway between two buildings." A witness said she appeared to look all right, "She was apologizing to the EMTs."

While the city hasn't outlawed smoking in homes yet, some apartment buildings have banned smoking from the properties. And thanks to an aggressive anti-smoking campaign, the city's smoking rate has plummeted, in no small part due to provocative advertising.

life imitates art- remember that Sex & the City episode?

This story should be the next anti-smoking PSA.

There are no buildings that tall in Delaware, in her defense..

I hope she gets well enough to enjoy a nice cigarette after her ordeal.

You gotta admit (because she survived in good enough shape to be apologetic to the EMTs) it's kind of funny. Cool she survived--maybe she'll quit.

jaja, the point you raised is her best defense, no question.

"...the city's smoking rate has plummeted..."

as are the smokers

And I thought smokers had good balance. At least she kept her cat like skills intact.

Re: #2

That scene came to mind too.

Maybe now she can quit smoking.

It sure doesn't seem like the smoking rate has plummetted. They're spinning it that way, though. I think they're full of shit.
