Actually, Politburo, when this was first posted, it read "The movie will be out in time for the summer screens". The "next year, with a release date of July 31st, 2009" must have been added after my post. In any case, you gotta love the attention to spelling that movie crews and journalists have in this city...

BTW, I can't believe that I forgot to mention that I parked my car Friday afternoon and came back Monday morning and it was gone. I guess I should have divined that it was going to be towed at 11:45 PM Sunday night, huh? Go back to Milwaukee.

Are you one of those dickwad production assistants who wants people to walk three blocks out of their way in their own neighborhood? I wasn't the only resident giving the production crew a hard time -- I saw at least one woman march right throught the whole scene mid-shoot because she didn't want to be detoured on her way to the subway that day, cursed out the director on her way too. Nobody except mid-western starstuck morons like yourself likes those fly-by-night jackasses who think they can take over a street whenever they want.

hey JenChungsBra: wake up! filming in nyc is part of what makes this city great. the signs hold streets and give TCD (traffic control division) right to tow your car out of the way BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED! however, they typically don't ticket unless you've ignored parking restrictions in some other way. you'd get escorted away from L&O:CI set real quick with your foolishness. either way, heed the warnings and remember NYC's a big no-parking zone. we will blow your car up or sink it in the east river overnight while you coddle like a babe: trust!

All of these remakes just reinforce what most of us already know, that Hollywood has run out of original ideas. In general, these remakes don't come close to the originals and become easily forgotten. The Taking of Pelham 123 is one of the best movies to watch if you're interested in a film about this city in the 1970s.

I would encourage everyone to rent the 1974 original, as it is one of the best NYC films ever. And then I'd encourage everyone to do as JenChung'sBra has done, just to make Tony Scott's life a pain.

Take those parking notices seriously people because they WILL tow your car to provide a personal parking space for the director's shoe-shine assistant and they'll do it even before the notice goes into effect. My car was once "relocated" for Law and Order and nobody would tell me where it was (a bus stop four blocks away) until I literally walked into the shot they were filming and threatened to stay there until I got my car back. They finally radioed for some guy who came running down the street with a list of towed cars. When I got to the car there was a notice on the window saying that it had been towed 15 minutes before the on-street notice went into effect. And the spot it had been towed from wasn't in any shot they were filming, it was between a couple of cast trailers where the crew had parked their personal cars to get to work. OK, I'm done...

It doesn't make sense for a movie to be shooting only a few months before its release. Post production takes, at least, half a year usually. These people must be working some real movie magic.
