Studio B Keeps Workin' Despite Stop Work Orders

0804studiobpermit.jpgTwo years ago Studio B promised/threatened to bring Miami to Greenpoint, and for better or worse, the venue/club/bar has delivered ever since. Currently they're raising the bar by creating a palm tree adorned rooftop oasis -- and the neighbors are just thrilled.

Last week we asked how long it would take before the local complaints shut down the roof. Today Miss Heather points to the stop work orders the club has received, still during the construction phase, as recent as April 21st.

They were cited for erecting a 2nd floor (read: roof) bar without a permit, but according to the photo that "leaked" last week, that little piece of paper isn't going to stop them from debuting their rooftop with a blowout extravaganza on May 2nd! How many people will be there? Probably about double their capacity, something they've been busted for before. As of now, their capacity appears to be undergoing renovations along with the club's physical ones.

Studio B better beware, the close-by Sound Fix recently had a run in with the Dept. of Health that shut them down temporarily -- something that took root in neighbor noise complaints.

unlike sound fix, studio b sucks ass. clubland jackasses.

for real. Studio B is run by complete assholes, some of the things they have done to make a buck are pretty appalling. typical nightclub shit i guess, but they're definitely among the worst.

This town needs joints like Studio B. Its a good place to go to get down in a town that's shuttered some of the most legendary clubs in history because of cranky ass noise complaints.

I swear this town is getting more fucking lame by the day. It just amazes me at this point.

Uh, how does not having one single permit for the construction, no fire protection plan, and no Certificate of Occupancy or Place of Assembly permit for the increased space get traced back to neighbor noise complaints?

Studio B caused their own problems on this one. They didn't bother to go about opening this space legally. Duh. ALL city business are required to get these permits. They don't give a crap about the safety of their patrons, or fact that they border on a quiet residential neighborhood.

A certain amount of noise is expected in the city; total disregard for everyone else is not.

Arrogant idiots.
