In the past year there have been murmurings of Jimmy Fallon taking over Conan's "Late Night" seat, when the latter moves over to the Tonight Show. Variety reports that NBC will officially announce the former SNL star's new position within the next few weeks, reuniting the actor/comedian with the Peacock network as well as Lorne Michaels (who executive produces the show).
The announcement was to be timed around an NBC presentation at 30 Rock "that's taking the place of NBC's traditional upfront," however "timing of the announcement may now be in flux" since Fox News and the NY Times had already spilled the beans. When it is announced, and the moves are made, Conan will likely land at LA's Universal Studios' Stage One, with Fallon at New York's studio 6A.
Conan will be taking off six months between hosting duties, and it's expected that Fallon will be back on the small screen in February 2009; giving him plenty of time to put his show together.

Good news for Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel. They both have great shows - they can split Conan's audience between themselves while Jimmy Fallon laughs at his own jokes for an hour. I shudder to think about how often he'll shove Horatio Sanz down his audience's throat.

Sorry folks, this is a lose-lose situation for NBC.
I'll definitely be watching Jimmy Kimmel more often. His show has really come around and is pretty entertaining.

c'mon the only reason why Conan has bad ratings is cause he has shitty guests. I mean, he's funny and all but you'd watch Kimmel cause he'd have Bruce Willis or something. While Conan would have ABe Vigoda. Now with him in LA and with the pick of the litter he's gonna dominate!
I guess I take comfort in everyone feeling the same way. I'm glad for Conan, whom I love, but Fallon is not funny. Also kind of sad Conan's moving to LA.
God, this is really bad news. I love Conan but I know he's gonna be sterilized on the 11:35 slot. As for Fallon, at least when Conan took over no one knew anything about him, and he turned out great. We unfortunately all know that Fallon is overrated and totally talentless. If I have a dime for everytime he broke character and laughed during the skits, I'd be pretty happy.

when i went to CU Boulder, he did a show there. I met him, because i was doing the lights, he seemed alright, but tired and maybe high. but at the after party? BAM - drugged OUT! i thought the heshers in BOULDER liked the weed!

Leno is an old pro who is getting better with age (unlike Letterman, who is just getting old).
