- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a DOA floater off Ogden Ave. in the Bronx, a scaffold incident on 47th St. and 7th Ave. in Manhattan, and a large brush fire at Orchard Beach in the Bronx.
- Out-of-state drivers flocked to gas stations along the NJ Turnpike to take advantage of gas selling for only $3.17 a gallon. Stations along the highway are only allowed to raise their prices once a week and they plan to raise the price by $.22 a gallon tomorrow morning.
- Gov. Paterson sent a letter to state legislators asking them to enact mid-year budget cuts in line with those he has planned for state agencies, CUNY, and SUNY.
- The Sex and the City movie will be a runway of designer labels and Anna Wintour herself gave her blessing to Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley to play himself in the film.
- Despite his release from prison after 17 years after it was determined he was wrongfully convicted of murdering his parents, Martin Tankleff's life remains in a sort of limbo as the State mulls over whether he'll be retried. Tankleff can't even get a photo ID from the DMV because he can't provide six forms of ID, like utility bills and credit cards.
- Advance tickets are now available at select locations for the Fort Greene House Tour, which will take place May 4th.
- The wandering black bear that was alarming Paramus, NJ residents was located and captured after being shot with a tranquilizer dart.
- The Dept. of Justice admitted that it screwed up by denying federal death benefits to the families of the two NYPD auxiliary officers who were killed while pursuing a crazed gunman in the West Village. Those benefits will be awarded.
