Video of the Day: Stupid Things to do in Penn Station

The description to this video reads: "This guy is offered $20 to lick the hand rail of a Penn Station New York city train." That pretty much says it all.

This move is not unprecedented, Bart Simpson did the very same thing! His was also in an attempt to win money, though through sympathy by demonstrating his lack of taste buds. How many licks does it take to get to the center of an infectious disease? We're wagering about one. CNN once reported that in order to get any problematic diseases from the train or subway, one would need to lick the pole.

Dumbass LI trash. I rubbed my anus on that exact hand rail today.

He won money by not being a germophobe.. free $20, if you ask me. Germs are everywhere.. they don't just hang out on handrails like a bunch of birds on the power line.

From your CNN link: "The swabs taken from the subway's turnstiles showed significant bacteria growth, even though people rarely touch them with their hands

On the other hand, Bristol-Myers' lab found there was "very low growth on the poles and coin slots.""

Reason # 457 why people from Long Island should not be permitted past the East River.

People complain about the 3:30pm uptown subway rides with all the teenagers headed back to the Bronx, annoying yes, but man, they are nothing compared to the times I've ridden the LIRR back to Manhattan at 9 or 10pm on a Friday or Sat. night. I can only imagine what the rides back are like. Thankfully, I've never had to be on those trains.

Don't dump this problem on Queens. We're not like them. Keep them on the other side of the Cross Island Parkway.

You know I would have thought Derek Jeter a) wouldn't need the money and b) had better taste in clothes.

Germs are good for you. They keep your immune system working.

What kind of train is that?! That looks newer and cleaner than any train I've been on in NYC.

Please tell me he fell through the gap after that.

I find that people use that excuse to let their kids roll around the floor of subway cars. Then those same kids go back home and roll around in their bed; maybe even with their shoes still on. Probably these same parents don't teach their kids to wash their hands after using the toilet.
