Isiah Thomas Banned from Contacting Knicks Players

2008_04_isiah2.jpgIsiah Thomas may still be a part of the Knicks organization, but he's been barred from contacting any of the players. The Daily News says the no-contact policy was "part of his reassignment agreement with Knicks president Donnie Walsh."

Why the fuss? A Knicks sources says "the fear is that if he were allowed to have any contact, including telephone calls, he could either willingly or unwillingly undermine the incoming coach." Question: How could Isiah undermine the Knicks any more?

Walsh is busy working on his list of potential coaches. Though Mark Jackson is a leading candidate, assistant coach Herb Williams got the first interview yesterday. And former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy is officially no long a candidate--Walsh said today, "(Jeff's) not going to be a candidate for the coaching job for his own personal reasons. I have nothing but respect for Jeff."

The NY Times speculated on who could be on the Knicks' wishlist--pretty much any coach who loses a playoff series might be on it!

we should get john starks...not as a coach, but as a player again

What is prohibiting them from just buying him out? I can't think of a good reason for keeping this cancer anywhere around the organization any longer.

Jim Dolan has an ongoing love a affair with Tomas. Just get rid of him. Break-ups are hard to do.

Question: How could Isiah undermine the Knicks any more?

Answer: By undermining the incoming coach.

But remember, Larry Brown was ostensibly fired for having unauthorized contact with the press -- that was how the Knicks avoided paying him the full remaining amount of his contract. Setup?

Michael Jordan. He only kinda' fucked up the Wizards.

The Knicks should hire Whoopi Goldberg.

#1- yeah starks can teach the players to play hard in the regular season and choke in the playoffs. He couldn't be a coach cause he's got a 3rd grade education. We need the one guy that everyone respects and has never let the Knicks down: CHARLES OAKLEY! The Oakman would punch the shit out of any player that didn't respect the game.

JOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNN STARKS!

Maybe he can run out and get DERR-ECK HARR-PER!!! while he's at it.

This deal is a good one for all involved... Dolan gets to keep his favorite boy toy on the payroll, Walsh gets to keep him on a short leash (if he fired him then there's nothing to keep Isaiah from ringing up his ex players whenever he wants) and Isaish get to keep seeing Jimmy's band for free.

Stubbornness?

Seriously, if they were willing to shell out all the money like that, they would've done it during the season. They were waiting for him to resign so they wouldn't have to pay him, which he didn't, and they're not going to just buy him out now and leave him free and clear to go take another job.
