Keith Haring Tribute on East Houston

Nylon has some shots of the new Keith Haring mural going up on E. Houston as a tribute to the artist on his upcoming birthday, May 4th. Still a work-in-progress, you can find it between Bowery and 2nd Avenue.
Last year Cityroom reported that Haring's "Crack is Whack" mural in Harlem River Park is "one of the only — if not the only — public art works by Haring still visible in New York City." However, later that year the NY Sun reported that "an area of the American Textile Building in the TriBeCa neighborhood was discovered to contain a painting of Haring's from 1979."

Is this the dude who died from AIDS from Dirty ass sex? He was a good artist.
why? Why do you always have to be such an ass.
What is Keith doing for his birthday?
There is a water-themed Haring at the James Walker Park Pool at St Lukes Place and Hudson Street...

Thanks for posting about the mural at James Walker Park. I knew there was another Haring mural in the city. I remembered seeing it while walking around the West Village, but I couldn't remember where it was.
bring back CRACK, crazed mugging old lady druggies is just what this city needs to get rid of the hipsters, gentrifiers, snobs, etc.
Jen, Gothamist even covered the finding of a Haring mural inside that building - last report I read they were trying to figure out how to safety remove it.
Hmmm, he should have done an "Unprotected Anal Sex is Wack" mural....
There's a Keith Haring mural at the pool at the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center, 3 Clarkson Street & 7th Ave South. There's a plaque on the fence that tells about how/when it was made and about Haring. You can see it from the street (it's large) but it is at the rec center, so maybe that's not "public" art.
The LGBT Center on West 13th Street also has an entire room that Haring painted in 1989 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Stonewall.
