what is the effin problem with the entire ny media & the yanks management? first of all, "burying" your opponent (or their jersey in effigy) is a metaphor for, well, BURYING YOUR OPPONENT!!! too bad none of the ny sports illuminati took a lit class, but someone of higher intelligence should explain that to the construction guy who thought that to bury your opponent was good for your opponent... oh, and the proof? and again, i heard no one in the ny sports establishment mention this, but for most of the 48 hours that that jersey was entombed, the red sox were in last place... once it was unearthed, the yanks moved to that unenviable position.. DUHHHH!!!!

Born in NY, love the Yankees, love the rivalry between Yanks and Sox (excuse me, Sux) but shit like this is so ridiculous. Why do fans take this rivalry so damn serious. Hell, most of the players be laughing on the field before the game with each other. Jeter said Ortiz is one of his best friends and that he hates no one on the Redsox (excuse me, Redsux). But the fans are the ones who get way to serious when it comes to this rivalry. A man wearing a NY hat in a bar in Boston gets sent to the hospital because others in the bar didn't like that. This construction guy buried a damn Redsox (excuse me again, Redsux) jersey at Yankee stadium. Get a life people. I wear my Yankees cap happily and do realize these multi-million dollar players don't care who the hell I like. It's just a game people, not life and death.

That $50K could have gone to A-Rod's salary, for all the good he does the team. I'm with #3 about the superstitious BS. Maybe the reason the Yanks haven't done anything with their ridiculously salaried players is because the players have no reason to be very good. Every year they get paid so much money that they don't have to give a shit about anything.

"a very, very bad act" ... give me a break. It's a stupid piece of cloth. There are no such things as curses, there's no possible way that this could in any way affect anything that happened at the stadium. Stories like this remind us that the human race is only a very small step removed from its superstitious caveman ancestors, shrieking in fear and hurling dung at each other every time there's an eclipse.
