SNL Increases Its Skewering of Clinton

Just a month ago, people wondered if Saturday Night Live was playing favorites with the Democratic presidential candidates, with seemingly more pro-Hillary Clinton material, not to mention the terrific Amy Poehler playing the Senator from New York to the hilt. However, last week, the show poked fun at the Clinton's tax returns and, last night, well, see how Clinton is spoofed in a hearing with General Petraeus (video above).

Interestingly, Tina Fey told Entertainment Weekly that her seemingly pro-Hillary "Bitch is the new black" Weekend Update segment was supposed to end with "Bitch is the new black, but black is the new president"--the line Tracy Morgan used a few weeks later. Fey then said she's not ready to be Hillary's number one fan, "I think all of the remaining candidates are intelligent people who truly want to serve our country and...well, I'll keep my mouth shut.''

Currently, Obama is dealing with fallout after some poorly phrased remarks, telling an audience in San Francisco that voters upset with the economy "cling to guns or religion or antipathy." That gave Clinton an opportunity to call him elitist and "condescending, especially to those small town voters in Pennsylvania, which holds its primary on April 22.

How does an irrelevant, remarkably unfunny show's potential leanings qualify as news, exactly?

Whatever happened to funny snl?

yeah, SNL blows... it is hard to find 1 funny skit at this point.

i don't know if the sketch about the tax returns was really hard on Hillary. it was more about how the press and the opposition kept demanding the returns even though everyone already knew the Clintons were rich.

also, i think the show actually has been funny for a few years now, at least 75% of the time. also, commenter #1, it's news because after the first couple "pro Hillary" sketches, the media (and Hillary herself) picked up on it.

1) That Tax return sketch was pretty firmly not anti-Clinton. It was a condescending snipe at Obama and the media for being so "stupid" as to demand financial records from a ranking political figure with aims to lead our nation.

2) The Obama impression still sucks.

3) Otherwise that was an okay sketch.

Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader are dual-handedly making that show watchable. It's no wonder they've both started shoing up in films during their first season.
