Bill Clinton Brings Hillary's Bosnia Boo-Boos Back
Just as media attention on his wife's incorrect statements about her trip to Bosnia had essentially died down, Bill Clinton decided to bring them up again. ABC News' Political Radar says the former President, who spent two days not campaigning, "eagerly discussed" various issues with a crowd in Indiana before blaming the media for blowing up Hillary's misstatements.
"A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me. But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that. Oh, they blew it up. Let me just tell you...And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them when they're 60 they'll forget something when they're tired at 11:00 at night, too."You can read his full statement here (he describes the dangers of Bosnia in what was actually 1996). Of course, Senator Clinton did make the remarks three times (December 2007, February 2008, and last month in the morning), and only apologized a week after the last instance, which makes her husband's defense perfect fodder for pundit programming, like the Dan Abrams show (clip above).

If she can't remember what she says at 11pm, how will she remember what she says at 3am?
The Clinton's are snakes. They'll say anything and do anything to get their way.

Also, if you're getting shot at, you would remember that pretty distinctly. I don't think you can really "misspeak" about whether you were shot at or not.

It's really bizarre for Bill to have brought that up. Like Jen said, the media attention has pretty much died down on that -- too soon if you ask me.
Repeatedly lying about coming under sniper fire to try to impress with foreign policy credentials is crazy, and would probably result in immediate political death for almost any other candidate.
But since the media has given her a free pass, why on earth would he bring attention back on it? I've heard talking heads in the past say that at times it seems like Bill is trying to bring Hillary down, and never really bought into that, but this would fit that theory.
Maybe Bill keeps putting his foot in his mouth because deep down he doesn't want Hill to win. Or not.
When will the Clintons go away? It feels like Hilary's been campaigning for twenty years now...

I'm not surprised the Clintons lie to us. The GOP will play dirty, too. Obama better be ready for it.
I'm stunned at how quickly Bill has apparently become politically tone deaf. He's made lots of mistakes.
It was a written speach that she had, it wasnt just a slip of the tongue, and the speech was in the morning or early afternoon, not at 11pm.

Not so fast. Several reporters who were with her on that plane are on record as stating they were all warned that there 'may' be snipers in the hills around the airport. Did she overplay her hand to gain political capital? Absolutely. But there is some modicum of truth in her story.
Okay, Bill is a fool. I love the guy, but he needs to quiet down. I don't blame Hillary, though, for embellishing her record a little for street cred. Do people know that McSame consistently confuses Shiite and Sunni? And he jokes about bombing Iran. These are bigger problems, no?

eyekantspel: Misspeaking a few times, embellishing for political capital or "misremembering" events 12 years after the fact would not be political death for any candidate. Clinton has not gotten, in any way, shape, form, or at any point in this election, a free pass from the media. If anyone has, it has been Barack Obama, whose affiliations with Reverend Wright, The Nation of Islam, The New Black Panther Party as well as some of the insane ramblings of his wife have all been quickly and quietly swept under the rug by the mainstream media.
Did Bill make a serious blunder in bringing this up again? Yes. Was this a complete non-issue that didn't deserve time on a nightly news show? Of course.
Consider this: If the snipers knew Sinbad was coming, don't you think there would have been actual shooting?
So if your memory starts to go at 60 what happens at 77? Ouch...
