They put "our Katie" in a pretty, gilded cage and she couldn't sing worth a shit. So free her and let her return to the wilds of daytime talk shows and Morning fluff jobs. We want Rather back. Because he's intensely weird and appropriately creepy.

I just can't stand looking at her anymore with all the awful plastic surgery she has had done. At least she has cut back a bit on the spray-on-tan.

I actually feel a bit bad for Couric in a way. They paid her a whole hell of a sum of money when CBS was notorious for being stingy with their newsdesk. This pissed A LOT of long time news people at the organization off, especially since they had to scrape by on so little to actually report serious news. They thought that by bringing in someone who was so successful in the morning it would bleed over into the evening. I have to wonder what marketing genius thought it would be a good idea to bring someone who's claim to fame was cake lite viewing for housewives in suburbia to what's considered 'serious time' in newscasting. She isn't Tom Brokaw. Hell, I miss Tom brokaw. I consider him the last great television journalist. Maybe its just the age I'm at or the time period I grew up in, but there was always an authenticity to his newscasts that was always sorely lacking from cable news, and completely lacking from the morning shows.

With the 24 cable news channels and the Internet there is really no need for the evening news at 6:30.

I'm a big fan of Judy Woodruff's work with CNN & Jim Lehrer. I think she would have been great in the anchor chair.

Um, I stopped watching whatever news Katie's on when I saw here sitting on her desk flashing her legs. She was a joke and an embarrassment. I was all for Gwen Ifel having her seat. Ifel is beautiful, personable, has a great voice, and a serious presence. Couric looks like Chuckie as a transvestite, and chirps like a sparrow, and sits on her desk flashing her gams. Of course, Ifel probably wouldn't have deigned to take that seat, seeing what low standards they were setting by choosing Couric.

No offense but I don't know of too many women who watch the evening news. It seems more like an old man thing. *waits for backlash*
