makes you wonder how we survived not so many years ago when the budget was 50% of what it is now... these people in albany are clowns... but the people right here in the city are just as bad.

Tempting indeed, but he can't get sushi at 3AM and probably puts 25,000 miles a year on that Jag. Everything's a trade-off I guess. Exactly. It's amazing what people put up with to live in this city... but there's so much here that it almost makes it worth it. Of course, North Carolina has decent weather all year, you get days off if it snows, and the cost of living is great. Florida has no income tax.

we need more than "painless" cuts. NYS needs some really painful ones. The level of taxation in this state are crazy, couple that with NYC's ridiculous additional tax and it is head and shoulders above the other states. Most of my family have left to PA, FL, etc and now I have to reverse commute to NJ because my company moved across the river last year due to taxes and costs. Get the state under control and start getting rid of personnel and services! please!

A good friend of mine decamped to North Carolina a few years ago. He instantly got a job at a bank paying almost twice what he was making here and soon after bought a 4000 square foot house and now drives a Jaguar. Meanwhile the cost of living is around 40 percent less. Tempting indeed, but he can't get sushi at 3AM and probably puts 25,000 miles a year on that Jag. Everything's a trade-off I guess.
