  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a person struck by a train at 168th St. and Broadway in Manhattan, a burn victim at the UN Plaza in Manhattan, and a missing child on East Tremont Ave. in the Bronx.
  • The man killed after a Mercedes plunged into the Newtown Creek early yesterday morning was identified as Derek Winefsky. Friends described him as a fitness buff who worked at a Bayside health club.
  • The remains of four more people killed during the WTC attacks in 2001 were identified.
  • The lawsuit brought by the husband-and-wife attorneys who live in the Ansonia and were suing their neighbor for the smell of her cigarette smoke has been settled. The manufacturer of a smoke filtration system came forward and donated it to Galila Huff, the smoking neighbor.
  • Catholic school teachers have ended their strike and are back at work as negotiations with the archdiocese have resumed.
  • The case against the ex-boyfriend Jessica Tush is fairly strong. The details of her murder where no one could hear her screams are disturbing.
  • A Catholic priest who attended Harvard at the same time as Conan O'Brien has pleaded guilty to stalking the late-night television talk show host.
  • The Physics Dept. at NYU will receive $6.25 million from the Dept. of Defense for research into nanotechnology.
