First, Machete Attack; Second, Throw Molotov Cocktails

A man who slashed a person with a machete and then retreated to a Queens rooftop to throw firebombs at police is, thankfully, now in custody. The NYPD and FDNY had surrounded the Richmond Hill house on Hillside Avenue between 125th and 126th Streets; one of the police cars caught fire, but no one was injured.

The man reportedly attacked an Orthodox Jew who was leaving the 121st Street J subway station. According to WNBC, "Police officers in an unmarked car then parked on 123 Street after searching the area for a suspect when someone threw a Molotov cocktail onto their vehicle allegedly from a nearby roof." The man was on his neighbor's roof where he threw around four Molotov cocktails during a standoff.

The man, described as emotionally disturbed, was apprehended at 7:15 p.m. and taken to a hospital for psychiatric review. And the owner of the house said, "Normally he comes up and he smokes. I pass him, he sits by the step. I say, 'Hi,' he says, 'Hi,' we go on my way, you know."

The machete attack victim was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital; WCBS 2 says he was able to defend himself with his umbrella.

The guy is lucky the NYPD didn't just shoot him and be done with it. What a nut job.

god was smiling on him: witness the trial further east in Queens.

Surprising that this kind of lunatic would have the patience to sit there and make four molotov cocktails.
