Noteworthy Television This Weekend: Amazingly Looking Backwards and Forwards

Amazin_Shea_WNBC.jpgWNBC’s Sue Simmons is known as a big Mets fan, so it's no surprise she was tapped to host a look back at Shea Stadium in its final year. So expect Sue being Sue along with some amazing Mets moments, concerts and some Jets (and we aren’t just talking about those coming into LaGuardia). The Amazin' Shea (Saturday, 7:30 p.m., WNBC 4) also will feature some interviews with some of the Mets greats. It is half the length of the station’s hour long look at Yankee Stadium from last week, but if that is any indication of the quality this will be another home run.

If you want to look forward instead of back, WABC’s Play Ball '08 (Saturday, 7:00 p.m., WABC 7) has Scott Clark taking a look ahead at the upcoming baseball season. Since it is on a half hour before Sue Simmons’ Shea special you could catch both, but if you aren’t a Mets fan you could keep it on WABC and watch Broadway Backstage (Saturday, 7:30 p.m., WABC 7) and get a look forward at the upcoming theatre season--but don’t expect a revival of Damn Yankees.

The Shea show on WNBC sucked.
It looks like it was put together as an afterthought. It was without passion.
Just thrown together with enough interviews and Sue reading he lines written by someone else to make it to tape.
The Yankees show one week earlier was done by a better writer/reporter and producer team. The quality shone thru, there.
