McCain Unveils General Election Ad

As Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue to battle for the Democratic presidential nomination, Republican nominee John McCain has released his first general election commercial. The 60-second commercial emphasizes McCain's military service and also features him saying, "Stay strong. Do not yield. Stand up. We're Americans. And we'll never surrender," as well as giving his military rank and serial number.

The ad's final words are "John McCain: The American president Americans have been waiting for," which may be an allusion to Obama's line "we are the ones we have been waiting for." Democratic party head Howard Dean said, "While we honor McCain's military service, the fact is Americans want a real leader who offers real solutions."

Politico looks at how the McCain campaign is seeking attention, as most of political media coverage is fixated on the Democratic race. McCain said, “I think it’s a two-edged sword. I think it’s nice to have [the GOP race] decided. But obviously the attention, understandably, is on a very close race, a hotly contested race for the nomination of their party.”

thanks to oprah, McCain will be our next president and he doesn't even have to try. McCain will be the most Meh Candidate. So boring. I can't even muster up any hate for his ass even though I should.

Spare me. Is that the best he can do?

Somewhere there's a blooper reel of all the times he forgot his own name. I'm sure of it.

"I'm James Mc..Mc..Mc...CUT!"

McCain sounds like he has a a bad case of oldtimers. Maybe he should haul his own ass to war, since he's hankering for it so bad.

I thought it was pretty good. Nice to hear a V.O. that's not the candidate. I thought the cut to JSM stating his rank after the question: "Has he walked the walk?" was clever. I still think we're going to trounce him.

"Stay strong. Do not yield. Stand up. We're Americans. And we'll never surrender"
Why didn't anyone tell me we won in Vietnam?

but on the bright side at least he wouldn't be in favor of forms of torture

Picking up right where GWB will leave off with the fear mongering and genuflecting in front of the flag. Awesome. I'm moving to France.

What worries me is none of the presidential candidates want to talk about the scourge of illegal immigration. They need to be asked where they stand, whoever comes to power? What do they have in store for us in 2009?

STOP THE TRAVESTY OF OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS! SAVE YOUR JOBS, LANGUAGE, FLAG & CONSTITUTION FROM ALL THOSE ANTI-SOVEREIGN, PRO-ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ADVOCATES WHO WOULD UNDERMINE THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE!

When the new personage steps into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, then we will be seeing the 12 to 20 million getting a path to citizenship. Once a new amnesty is signed into law, then nobody will be able to stop the next tsunami of destitute, uneducated illegal humanity pouring across our borders. A new amnesty will be seen as an open door for yet another future welcome to the world.

If MALDEF, LA RAZA or MECHA and other special interest groups, not excluding anti-sovereignty entities like the ACLU, Southern Poverty League that are apposed to the federal SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088), than it must have an excellent chance of working? Then citizens must contend with individual like Mayor Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, along with his retinue of pro-illegal immigrant city managers, who pander to special interest groups. In the limelight was ex-governor Spitzer, who was going to issue illegal foreign workers and families driving licenses. It seems like the illegal immigration battle is never over, because many of our politicians like House Speaker Pelosi, Harry Reid and their thrall are determined to undermine THE PEOPLE'S wishes.

In the last few months Democrat Kay Bailey Hutchinson added an amendment to the our border fence, that would gut it indefinitely by December 2008.Never mind that Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, a Republican from Oceanside, said illegal immigrants cost California taxpayers an estimated $9 billion each year. Even Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich agrees with this statement. Unfortunately their are other traitors amongst us, such as the globalist open border, free traders whose major agenda is the free movement of people throughout the North American Continent.

This by-partisan law is awaiting just 18 signers, to bring this enforcement only to a House vote. The SAVE ACT will supersede any state laws, in its magnitude. It will go after the real culprits who are the predator employers. It is enforcement by Attrition or Self-Deportation. Cannot get work, then they will leave of their own accord. If you are one of the citizens fed up with subsiding the poor, uneducated from around the world. Nobody should have a right to legalization without going home and being processed like all immigrants.

YOU! And only YOU, can stop this travesty of our Immigration laws?

Tell, NO! DEMAND your representatives to co-author THE FEDERAL SAVE ACT?

I liked that voice-over. It was like a movie trailer from the '50s.

"In the last few months Democrat Kay Bailey Hutchinson.."

KBH a dem? lol.. try again.

The guy who does the VoiceOver is from 24. He played the dude that kills the President. The vice president that kills the president. Hmmm...

since he's old skool, I'm still waiting for a slip up. OK, he really isn't that old, OLD are the WWII survivors. those guys are RACIST. OK, not as racist as the OG gangsta's during the draft riots.
yep, I wuz watching the discovery channel today.

"The American President that Americans have been waiting for"??? I nearly spit out my tea at that one. And the v.o. sounds to me like someone doing an unintentionally bad impression of William Shatneras Kirk.

Not to mention that terminal preposition...

The voiceover is actor Powers Booth. He played the saloon owner/pimp Cy Tolliver on Deadwood.

"We're Americans. And we'll never surrender"?
WTF does he think that he did when the Vietnamese surrounded his plane? Or six days later, when he signed a statement admitting that he bombed civilian targets and was a war criminal? If THAT isn't surrendering, what is? Ferrying the last American off the embassy roof by helicopter?

McCain is nothing more than an offer of four more years of the failed Bush/Neocon policies. No changes, no different ideas or policies, just a few "red meat" platitudes.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over yet hoping for different results.

McCain, if he were to be elected, would be the oldest person ever elected to the presidency. Even older than Reagan... and remember how well THAT worked out? Huge tax cuts for the richest, cuts in services to the middle class, millions out of work, huge defecits, a recession. Yep. That's the republicans for you.

For some reason I have an urge to go and get some Allstate auto insurance.
