Last Night's Action: Avoiding Rock Bottom

  • Knicks 103, Heat 96 (OT): Jamal Crawford led the Knicks with 24 points as they defeated a Miami Heat team stocked with talent like Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal Chris Quinn, Mark Blount and Earl Barron. That the Knicks needed overtime to beat the NBA's worst team at home should be a big embarrassment. Such a dramatic win saved the Knicks their longest home losing streak ever -- it would have been eight -- and gave them their second win in all of 14 games. Wilson Chandler, a rookie out of DePaul, had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Isiah Thomas needs to play the youth movement. There's probably not much there, but he should at least go through the motions.

  • Nets 124, Pacers 117: Don't laugh, but the Nets could end up in the playoffs while the Mavericks miss them. Even with Jason Kidd now in Texas, the Nets and Hawks appear ready to do battle right down to the wire for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Pacers are in that race too, so Wednesday's home win proved extra important. Devin Harris had 22 points and 15 assists in the high-scoring affair. Vince Carter had 22, Richard Jefferson had 20 and Josh Boone had 26. Harris really made the offense click. Meanwhile, Dallas is 1 1/2 games away from the lottery.

oh christ. the knicks don't even know how to properly tank a season away.

on the plus side, i caught a shirt during the t-shirt launch in overtime. likely due to the fact that everyone around me had left in disgust once the game went into overtime.

Notice how no one comments when the talk is only about basketball.

Yet Isiah Thomas coverage here is huge. No one cares.
